Karangasem stretches from the Amed coast and Mount Agung area to royal water palaces, temples, old villages and beaches. The most efficient route depends on your hotel location, what you value most and how early you are willing to start.
For most private day trips, we recommend choosing three or four main stops. That leaves enough time to experience the places instead of spending the entire day getting in and out of the car.
The best-known East Bali combination. It works especially naturally from Amed and can also be done from Ubud or South Bali with an early departure.
A better fit for travelers who want Bali's largest temple complex and cultural depth rather than prioritizing the Gate of Heaven photograph.
A strong alternative for guests who prefer living culture, coastal scenery and traditional villages over a full temple itinerary.
Useful for travelers staying in Amed who want a slower morning before visiting inland Karangasem. A snorkeling morning can also be kept separate from a longer temple day.
Lempuyang and Tirta Gangga are relatively natural from Amed, so you can spend more of the day at the destinations themselves. A classic day is Lempuyang → Tirta Gangga → Taman Ujung.
Plan from Amed →Ubud adds meaningful driving time. An early start is especially important if Lempuyang is your priority. For guests who prefer culture, Besakih may form a more natural temple-focused route.

A classic route is Lempuyang, Tirta Gangga and Taman Ujung. Because Amed is already in East Bali, this route is more efficient than starting from the south of the island.
Start early. Lempuyang, Tirta Gangga and Taman Ujung are possible in a long day. If temples and culture matter more than the famous Lempuyang photo, consider a Besakih-focused route instead.

Yes, but keep the rest of the day simple. A morning snorkeling session followed by Tirta Gangga and Taman Ujung is more realistic than adding Lempuyang, Besakih and several other distant stops.
